When the COVID-19 pandemic first came to the U.S., many people and businesses were caught off-guard. They had to scramble to adapt to new ways of doing things. But our practice was different. We have always been committed to helping our patients and our community during difficult times, and this season of COVID-19 is no exception. In fact, you might even say we were born ready for events like this. On this page, you will learn more about how our team is responding to current events.
Our Immediate Response
For a time, state regulations required that we suspend all non-urgent treatments. However, we remained open to provide help to emergency patients. In fact, we treated all dental emergencies for about 100 miles around! We saw an average of 20 new patients each day. Our team courageously stepped up to the plate to help individuals suffering from toothaches and other oral health problems, all the while taking strict and necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We showed that the answer to the question, “Is the dentist safe?” is a resounding yes!
Geneva Strong: Supporting Our Community
Protecting and restoring your oral health is a cause that is dear to our heart, but that is only part of a greater commitment that we have: our commitment to our community. Even when our practice slowed down and we were making less money than usual, we did not slow down in our dedication to supporting those in need. We presented the Geneva Food Bank with a check and 75 pounds of food and to encourage senior citizens, we donated care baskets to long-term care facilities.
Additionally, we made a concentrated effort to gather PPE so we could continue to operate our business safely. We've spent 100 hours collecting PPE from around the world not only for the protection of our patients but also our team members. We know that everything we do in our dental office to fight COVID-19 is an important part of keeping our entire community as safe as possible.
Moving Forward
Now, as some of the COVID-19 restrictions are being lifted, we have resumed offering a wide variety of services to patients. We are continuing to adhere to strict safety protocols, which include:
- Wearing additional, stronger PPE.
- Installing a UV on our furnace to sterilize ingoing and outgoing air.
- Adding English Ivy to all of our rooms. This is more than just a pretty plant — it is very effective at absorbing bacteria.
- Asking patients to sanitize their hands and submit to a temperature check prior to their appointment.
- Limiting the time patients spend in the waiting room.
- Having a designated exit door to create one-way traffic.
- Conducting daily health screenings of our staff.
The bottom line on our COVID-19 response is simply that we will never compromise on anyone’s safety, and we are here to support our community as much as possible in this stressful time. You can rely on us to take excellent care of your smile and protect your overall health.
